How do you distinguish a wolf from a coyote? Wolves are about three times the size of a coyote. A male wolf could exceed 125 pounds. A coyote's skull is about the size of a human fist; his ears are about two inches apart. A large wolf s skull is close to the size of s human skull; his ears are about 4 inches apart. Wolves have a wide range of colors, including black, charcoal, grey, brown, and white. Coyote colors are limited to mixtures of brown, gray, and rust.
